If you're interested in Game Gear console box variations you might want to check out kaori30's collection, he has the best GG console selection I have ever seen, more than Brynaldo had back when he was collecting I believe.

Thanks guys, yeah i am only collecting PAL stuff at the moment. It's enough at the moment as i don't have a whole lot of money to put towards my collection at the mo.

kaori30 has a great selection of conoles there. Did brynaldo ever catalogue his collection anywhere ? I've always wanted to see pictures of it. Bought a few games from him in the past.

He took some pictures of his full sets, you can see them in This thread over at SMSPower+. There's a shot of his Japanese consoles on his photobucket account too . I'd love to get my hands on that complete 4 in 1 .

Great set, thanks for sharing! I'm really starting to get back into the Game Gear, since it's something I can play in bed during the few waking moments I get to myself these days. I always loved the PAL packaging - it's one case where I think it definitely beats out the US packaging. Maybe I am biased, though, because it does hark back to the Master System packaging.

Okay, so what's with the skull and crossbones on the TV Tuner set? ;D

Although I love the design of the PAL GG boxes I hate the fact that they are cardboard, such a pain for collectors who are used to clamshells

The pirate TV thing was an ad campaign from back in the day, there were 3 or four ads, maybe more, plus quite a few mag ads and special edition box sets. Here's the best ad:
